As Coldplay sings: Look at the stars, look how they shine for you! If you want to check, how they shine, you should definitely visit astronomical observatory of Jagiellonian University.

Few words about history: as whole University was founded in 1364, observatory is youngest, because it’s from 1792 and it’s situated in Fort Skała (en. Fort Rock), about 10 km west from city center. In the beginning of its activity, scientists was only observing Moon, Jupiter’s satellites, Star-shadowing and meteorology. Now they are measuring comets physics, photometry, changeable stars models and a lot of more complicated apparitions.

If you want to visit this place, and check how it works, you can make a free tour there, every Monday and Wednesday, from 10am till 2pm. Also, in school year you can go to journalistic lecture, once a month, and see some stars using telescope.
